Ashley, Ohio

Thomas Lewis Crump, 83, of Ashley passed away Tuesday afternoon May 13, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 8, 1930 in Mason County, West Virginia to the late John Reece Crump and Sarah (Jones) Crump.

He served his country as a member of the United States 9th Army Air Force unit and had worked at Marion Power Shovel and later, a machinist and foreman with Denison Engineering. He also worked as a carpenter with Ralph Bryant. His biggest joy was farming and being able to grow and raise and provide food for his family.

Thomas was a lifelong Ashley resident and a member of the Westfield Community Church where he served as a trustee. He also served as a Westfield Township Trustee for 28 years and on the Fire Board. He was a very hard worker and true outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, building and tinkering with things. He loved Westerns, his little animals and restoring old tractors. Whatever Thomas did, he did it well and he lived a very full life. He also was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years Doris Eileen Crump on January 25, 2014, a son Keith Crump in 1990, and a daughter-in-law Sherri (Raines) Crump.
