Thomas E. Sagle, 77, of Delaware, Ohio, formerly of Galion, died Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

Born Sept. 24, 1932 in Roseville, he was the son of the late Guy Sagle and Lucy Pemberton Sagle. He was preceded in death on Nov. 12, 2005 by his wife, Sally A. Laughlin Sagle whom he married on July 25, 1950.

Tom was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galion and a state of Ohio all star running back in high school and played football for Sid Gillam at the University of Cincinnati. He and his wife Sally were avid gardeners. Tom worked at PECO II and ITT North Electric in Galion for 35 years until his retirement in 2000.

He is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Chris Doherty of North Canton, Nancy and Jim Cunningham of Lewis Center, Jane and David White of Delaware and Susan and Dave Bibb of Bonney Lake, Wash., two sons and a daughter-in-law, John Sagle of Delaware and Michael and Maralyn Sagle of Powell, 14 grandchildren, Sean and Daniel Doherty, Mandy Eric Kent, Anna Eric Yoder, Jennifer Cunningham, Jamie Patrick Geizer, Aaron Cunningham, Christopher and Matthew White, Lauren, Leah and Eric Sagle and Jana and Jack Bibb; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Carly Kent; one sister, Joy Brown of Sebring and one sister-in-law, Jane Laughlin of Zanesville.

He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, David Laughlin.

Friends may call from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church, 127 S. Columbus Street, Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2010 at First Lutheran Church with Rev. Matt Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Kingwood Memorial Park in Delaware.
