Thomas E. Moore, age 83, of Wooster Road, Mount Vernon passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the Fort Walton Beach Medical Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

He was born on June 25, 1930 in Mount Vernon to the late Thomas A. and Pauline (Carter) Moore. He was a Veteran serving in the United States Army during the Korean War as a Machinist Specialist. Tom retired from American National Can where he was a Quality Control Manager. He was a member of the Howard United Methodist Church, was an original member and past president of the Kokosing Valley Antique Tractor Club, was a member and past president of the Knox County Harness Horse Association and owned a stable and trained Standardbred horses. Tom enjoyed raising exotic birds and goats and assisted Red Shaw in his auctions for many years. But most of all, Tom loved the time he spent with his family.

He is survived by his wife, of over 58 years, Jody (Feasel) Moore; his son Stephen (Barbara) Moore of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren, Marty (Lacie) Moore, Marney (Jason) Moore; two great grandchildren, Croix Moore and Alexei Moore; two sisters, Dorothy (Raymond) Parker and Wanda Moore; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Friends may call on Friday from 5 – 8 pm at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home. A service will be held on Saturday, at the funeral home, beginning at 10 am. Burial, with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veteran’s Council, will follow in Mound View Cemetery.
