Theodore T. VanWay

Theodore T. VanWay, age 67 of Delaware died Friday afternoon, April 11, 2008 at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 26, 1940 in Glouster, Ohio to the late Dean and Beulah M. (Stallings) VanWay. A graduate of Corning High School in 1958, he then served in the US Army until 1966.
Ted worked as a construction supervisor for Fieshel Company and Cable Express. He was a member of the Corning Eagles. An outdoorsman at heart, he enjoyed hunting deer and turkey in the southern hills of Ohio. A true jokester, he was always ready with a witty comeback.
He held a passion for fishing the waters of Lake Erie, Delaware, Alum Creek, and southern Ohio. Forever reliable he was always ready and available with fatherly advice. With no regrets and in his own words he himself summed up his life the best; “I have done everything I wanted to do, lived a wonderful life, with a wonderful wife, had two awesome children, and four handsome grandsons, all of whom I am most proud.”
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 47 years: Melanie Ruth (Hammond) VanWay, son Theodore T. (Patricia) VanWay II of Delaware, daughter Cynthia (Don) Nye of Sunbury, Grandsons: Theodore T. VanWay III, Lucas A. VanWay, Kyle C. Jones, Andrew M. Jones, Step-Grandchildren: Donnie, Michael, Brittany Nye, and Ricky Punches, siblings: Donald (Mary) VanWay and Willard VanWay both of Corning, Sally (Richard) Saunders of Glouster, John VanWay of Marion, and mother-in-law: Ruth Hammond of Delaware; Sister-in-law: Jeanette (Tom) Hammond-Cray of Fredericktown.
Friends may call Sunday 2:00-6:00 p.m. at DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St. (SR 36), Delaware, where services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Saunders officiating, burial will follow in the Cheshire Cemetery.
