Thelma B. Daugherty, 82, of 336 S. Market Street, Galion, died Friday, December 5, 2003 at Galion Community Hospital, after a 2 week illness.

Born August 10, 1921 in Galion, OH, she was the daughter of the late U S Deter and Lena Stubbs Deter. On January 9, 1943 she married Harry B. Daugherty. He preceded her in death November 22, 1995.

She was a graduate of Galion High School in 1940. She was a lifelong member of Peace Lutheran Church in Galion. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Women’s League serving three terms as treasurer. She was also a member and Past Matron of Naomi Chapter #47, Order of Eastern Star, Galion; past President of Naomi Chapter #47, Past Matrons; a member of District #10 Past Matrons; Galion Golden Age Center where she volunteered for Crawford County Council on Aging “Meals on Wheels” and a member of Galion Community Hospital T.W.I.G. #3

She retired from the former Peabody-Galion in 1986 after 31 years where she was a payroll clerk.

Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Shannon, of Galion and Joyce and David Baxter, of Columbus; a sister-in-law, Barbara Garlick, of Ashland and several nieces and nephews including, Daniel Deter, of Manassas, Va., Janice Deter Maurer, of Mansfield, Charles H. and Barbara Deter, of Ashland, Emerson F. and Jody Varga, of Mansfield and Kenneth E. Deter, of Ashland.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, W. Reese Shannon; a sister, Elizabeth Deter and a brother, Herman Deter.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 7, at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 8, with Rev. Timothy Keeler officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery.

An Eastern Star Memorial Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday during calling hours.
