The Reverend Judith K. Marlow, age 68, of Howard, Ohio (Apple Valley Community) passed away on Monday evening, February 9, 2009 in the Palliative Care Unit at Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Ohio. She was born on July 29, 1940 in Algona, Iowa, daughter of the late William and Esther (Junkermeier) Kading.

Reverend Marlow was a 1994 graduate of Wittenberg University, and was awarded a Masters of Divinity degree from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Bexley, Ohio in 1997. She was ordained as a Lutheran Minister at St. John Lutheran Church, Springfield, Ohio in 1998. She served the congregations of both Messiah Lutheran Church in Moundsville, WV and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in New Martinsville, WV for 10 years until her retirement in 2008.

She opened Judy’s Place in 2007, a transitional home where women and their children are lifted out of domestic violence. She was an avid gardener, she made beautiful quilts and she was a great friend to many who were in need.

Judith is survived by her loving children, Julie (Steve) Davis of Athens, Ohio, Jesse (Jane) Marlow of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Jack (April) Marlow of Warren, Michigan, Allen (Lisa) Marlow of Mount Gilead, Ohio, and David Marlow of Birmingham, Alabama, and by 11 grandchildren.

Judith was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Marlow.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church of New Martinsville, 59 East Benjamin Drive, New Martinsville, West Virginia at 1:00 p.m.
