Terry Lee Glaze

January 10, 1945 ‒ November 13, 2020

Sunbury, Ohio

Terry Lee Glaze, age 75, of Sunbury, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020, at the Kobacker House surrounded by his family.  He was born in Columbus on January 10, 1945, to Frank W. Glaze and Virginia R. (Shoemaker) Glaze, both of whom preceded him in death.

Surviving Terry, and cherishing his memory, are his wife of over 50 years, Marianna (Smith) Glaze; his son, Terry Lee Glaze II (Ashley Shannon) of Sunbury; his daughters, Anndalena D’Amico of Egg Harbor, New Jersey, Terianna (Ron) DiFrancesco of Johnstown, Tera (Josh) Abolins of Sunbury; grandchildren, Terry Lee, Meadow, Eddie, Isla, Blake, Raylan, and Aubree; and his brother, Ronald Glaze of Rotondo, Florida.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sandra Farris-Sica.

Terry proudly served our country in the Army from 1965 to 1967.  He was self-employed as a stone mason for many years.  His family described him as a free spirit, yet out-spoken man who was unique in so many ways.  Terry had a magnetic personality, was “really cool,” and ahead of his time.  He loved motorcycling and nature.  Terry was strongly dedicated to his family. He spent countless hours supporting his children and grandchildren’s endeavors and was extremely proud of all their accomplishments. Terry taught his family good work ethics, the importance of stability, and to have a strong personal constitution.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather – his single favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren.

A celebration of life service in Terry’s name will be held on October 17, 2021 from 3:30pm – 5:30pm at Grace Life Church of the Nazarene (6000 Johnstown Road, New Albany, Ohio 43054).  In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s name are suggested to Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial (P.O. Box 92 Sunbury, Ohio 43074 or https://ohiofallenheroes.org/donate/).  DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home is honored to serve the Glaze family.  Memories of Terry or condolences may be posted at www.snyderfunerealhomes.com.

  • Family,

Deepest condolences for you all. Thoughts and Prayers. Great man who always welcome us into his home! Even though he wasn’t my blood uncle me and many refer to him as “Uncle T” Great memories and will dearly be missed.

  • Thoughts and prayers to the Glaze family. I can picture Terry and Russ Schicks riding their Harleys into the sunset. RIP Terry!!°

  • “his single favorite activity was spending time with his grandchildren.”

We had the privilege of meeting Terry because of his Grandson Terry Lee and we saw him living out this favorite activity first hand and with such joy. Watching Grandpa Terry support, encourage and teach Terry Lee in all of his sports and in life in general, it was obvious how much they each enjoyed those moments. The relationship between those two was so special and one that we know meant/means so much to them both.

Terry was a special man and he will be greatly missed by those who knew him, and even more so by the grandchildren that he meant so much to. Praying for all of you during this time.

    With Love & Prayers,
Eric, Michelle, Paige & Shelby Oswalt

  • I’m so sorry to hear of his passing. Big Terry was always so kind and engaging when I was a kid. I remember all the times at Boy Scout camps as a kid and what he taught us about nature. I learned a lot from him one summer when I helped him with a stone wall at my parents house, such an interesting and one of a kind guy. I’ll miss seeing him riding in his big blue pick up truck. Prayers to the Glaze family during this difficult time.

  • Marianna, we were so sad to hear about Terry. I think to a lot of us in the class of ’63, he was our “Fonz”. He was so cool, and definitely marched to the beat of his own drum. And though to some, he might have appeared ‘biker dude scary’, to those who knew him, he was our good ole Terry, funny and kind. He will be so missed. Many prayers to you and your beloved family for comfort and healing.

Terry was a straight up guy and wasn’t afraid to mince words when challenged. He WILL be missed.May peace always be with him and his family. 🙏

  • Tom and Mareli Jackson: I first met Big Terry about 45 years ago. At first it seemed unlikely that we would become friends. It seemed we were on entirely different paths in life. I was wrong! While he did it his way and I did it my way , with both of us it was about family. I learned to respect and even admire how he lived his life and his dedication to family. Not only did Terry and I become friends, our wives and kids became close friends.

Thought’s and prayers for your family

  • My condolences Marianna and Family.

Praying to Glaze family for love & strength during difficult time.

  • My heart goes out to his whole family. It’s been years but still have very sweet memories of my friend. He was so cool and interesting and fun.
