BUTLER ~ A family man at heart, Terry Ward found peace and happiness within his wife, children, and five granddaughters. Fostering close relationships, you could say Terry’s life was rich- filled with love, devotion and commitment. On Saturday December 19, 2009 Terry L. Ward passed away following an extended illness surrounded by his loving family. He was 64.

Terry was born October 4, 1945 in Mansfield to Wendell W. and Marjorie F. (Bowman) Ward, and was graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1964, where he was active with the football, baseball and track athletic programs.

A lifelong area resident, Terry was employed at D.H. Bowman & Sons where he was skilled at operating heavy machinery. He loved being outside on the backhoe or bulldozer. Terry also worked at General Motor’s Ontario Plant as a millwright. He retired in 2005 after working 24 years.

Described as a simple man who enjoyed life, Terry was proud of his restored 1924 Model-T that was his grandfathers. Often he would show it at area car shows, and had it shined for local parades. He enjoyed traveling with his family, just about anywhere in the US often returning to Florida every year for a couple of weeks.

Terry loved nature and spending time outdoors. In the warmer months that meant heading to Pleasant Hill Lake for a cruise on his pontoon boat.

Content with spending time with family or offering a life lesson to his granddaughters Terry was a pillar of support sturdy and dependable.

He was a member of the former Mount Sinai United Methodist Church in Butler.

Terry is survived by his wife Sandy (Agin) Ward, whom he married August 13, 1963; daughters and sons-in-law Terresa & Rodney Burdge of Lexington and Tracie & Rob Britt of Bellville; granddaughters and their boyfriends Michelle Baker and Shawn, Megan Baker and Matt, Mickenzie Burdge, Terra Britt and Mike, and Cassie Britt; his mother Marjorie Ward of Butler; brothers and sisters-in-law Roger & Linda Ward of Mansfield, Keith & Pat Ward of Cuyahoga Falls; a sister Darla Ward of Butler; special nephew David Goon as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.
