Sylvia Priscilla Wilson, age 89 of Delaware, a strong, faith-filled women who laughed easily and loved unconditionally went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2008.

She was born on January 25, 1919 in Barnesville to the late Jay Walter and May lassie (Myers) Cross. Sylvia was a longtime member of Zion A.M.E. Church in Delaware. She was a 50 year member of the Estella R. Davis Charity Club of the National Association of Colored Women’s Club and NAACP. She served as a former trustee for Delaware Senior Citizens and the London Town Apartment Complex. A wonderful baker, known for her peach cobbler and Christmas cookies, she will be remembered for her caring ways.

Preceded in death by her husband of 40 years: John L. “Buck” Wilson, who died in 1984.

She will be sadly missed by her son Ray W. (Carol) Wilson of Delaware, Granddaughters Melissa (Brent) Johnson of Columbus and Monica Wilson of Delaware, 2 Great-grandchildren: Braxton Payne Johnson, Kendal Rae Johnson, many nieces and nephews. Her presence and voice will be missed by both family and friends.

Friends may call one hour prior to the Friday 11:00 a.m. funeral service at the Zion A.M.E. Church, 140 S. Washington St., Delaware with Rev. Edna Parker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home in Delaware.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Vera and Harold Turner Scholarship fund at Zion A.M.E. Church.
