BELLVILLE: Blessed with a caring heart. Sylvia Doup was firm and unwavering in her beliefs. With her family the focus of her life, Sylvia was blessed to have loved a wonderful husband, six children, and numerous grandchildren. With a love so strong, it was only fitting that Sylvia passed away on Valentines Day. No longer bound by her Earthly body, Sylvia Caroline Doup, 83, of Bellville passed away Tuesday February 14, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
The daughter of John and Mabel (Hudson) Miller, Sylvia was born June 8, 1928 in Carrollton, Illinois. She attended East Knox Schools and after acquiring her certificate as an LPN, worked as a nurse for Hillcrest Nursing Home for 30 years. After retirement she worked nine years at Wendy’s and for the Board of Elections.
She was a member of the Amvets Post 43, and a life member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 535 holding numerous positions over the years. In her younger years Sylvia enjoyed bowling. She also enjoyed quilting, reading and a good game of euchre.
Sylvia will be remembered as a giving lady who looked to serve those around her.
She will be missed by her loving husband Edward J. Doup of Bellville; children and their spouses Carolyn and Bill Brook of Bellville, Donna and John Moore of Dallas, Texas, Ron and Rebecca Doup of Bellville, George A. Doup of Bellville, Ina and Dennis Flenner of Lucas, and Phyllis and Mike Patterson of Bellville; grandchildren Michael David Brook, Andy and Kristina Brook, Sean and Holly Moore, Brandon and Amy Doup, Amy Doup, Amber Doup, Nick Doup, Donald and Nikki Traxler, Adriann and Andrew Gribben, Jessica and Brian Mead, Tami and Bill Mowery, Joe Pocs, and Lance and Jody Patterson; eleven great grandchildren; sisters Edna Ormeroid, Ellen Tablett and Velma Carpenter; sisters-in-law Carol Donavon and Joyce Sultz; brother-in-law George R. Doup.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Eugene Miller; sister Elda Cornelius; granddaughters Brittany Doup and Tori Brook.
The Doup family will receive friends Friday, February 17, 2012 from 4-8pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home where her funeral will be held Saturday at 11am. Pastor Richard Prater will officiate and burial will follow in Bellville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the Jefferson Township/Bellville Rescue Squad or Hospice of North Central Ohio may be made through the funeral home.
