Stevie J. “Wally” Mabe, age 50, of Mount Vernon, died Monday March 6, 2006 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was born March 8, 1955 in Richlands, Virginia and had lived in the Fredericktown and Mound Vernon areas since 1960. Wally attended Fredericktown High School and the Knox County Career Center and had been employed as a truck driver. He loved his family and enjoyed riding Harley-Davidson Motorcycles.

Wally was a member of the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge in Mount Vernon.

Surviving are his wife Kathy M. (Harding) Mabe; his children Jeff (Laura) Mabe, Julie Mabe all of Mount Vernon, Denise (Dale) Bowman of Perrysville; stepchildren Charles Harris and Bridget Harris both of the home; 9 grandchildren; his mother Viola (Elswick) Mabe of Fredericktown; brothers Leff Mabe of West Augusta, Virginia and James Mabe of Fredericktown; sisters Nell (Jerry) Clevenger of Harmon, Virginia and Louise Barbour of Bonita Springs, Florida. He was preceded in death by his father Willie W. Mabe and three brothers Witten Mabe, Randy Mabe and Claude Mabe.

Friends may call Thursday from 6 to 8 PM at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon where funeral services will be Friday at 11 AM with Rev. Keith McLaughlin officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gambier.
