Steven N. Bail

MANSFIELD: Steven N. Bail, 79, went home to his Lord on Saturday, January 3, 2009 after a brief illness.
He was born on August 22, 1929 in Worthington, West Virginia to Alva and Prudence Bail. When he was just 19 years old he taught school in a one-room schoolhouse. Steven obtained his master’s degree from the University of West Virginia in history and taught school before joining the U.S. Army in 1951. He served as a Lieutenant in the Korean War.
Steven retired after 30 years in management and sales for the transportation industry. He was a substitute teacher for several years then worked in security for Meijer. He enjoyed football, soccer, golf and most all competitive sports. He spent many years watching his grandchildren Sarah and Vincent play soccer locally. He was also an avid University of West Virginia fan.
Steven was also past deacon of Lexington Presbyterian Church.
Steven is survived by his wife of 53 years Alice Lavere Bail; three daughters, Stephanie (Paul) Beauregard of Atlanta Georgia, Deborah (Jeffrey) Rettig of Orlando, Florida and April Bail of Mansfield; seven grandchildren Heidi and Jeffrey Rettig, Noelle, Paul, and Steven Beuregard, and Sarah and Vincent Bail; two sisters-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his son Steven, and brothers Alva, Joseph, Thomas, and Franklin Bail.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Steven N. Bail will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 12pm in Lexington Presbyterian Church (35 West Church Street Lexington, Ohio 44904). The Rev. Jack Sharp will officiate. Military Honors will be performed by the American Legion Irvin Hiskey Post #535.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Steven N. Bail Memorial Fund of the Lexington Presbyterian Church and may be sent to the church or the funeral home.
The Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Homes is assisting the Bail family with funeral arrangements.
