Steven “Mike” Mitchell, age 62 of Delaware and formerly of Springfield passed away Thursday evening, September 29, 2016 at Delaware Court following an extended illness.

He was born on November 14, 1953 in Springfield to the late Richard and Martha (Benham) Mitchell. Mike was a proud alumnus of Heidelberg College where he was a member of the Excelsior Men’s Society.

Fun loving and the consummate story teller, he could converse about anything. People were drawn to his warm personality and good heart. He treasured his family, especially his daughters of whom he was most proud and loved so much. Mike will be remembered for his love of music and coaching softball.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 41 years; Susann (Doig), daughters: Erin (Gary) Tope, Lauren (Akil) Ragland all of Delaware, grandchildren: Lilianna, Adeline, Mara, Linbell, Lennox, sisters Elizabeth Bancroft of Springfield and Lori (John) Storey of Dublin.

Services celebrating the life of Mike Mitchell will be held 6:00 pm Tuesday at the Terra Nova Community Church, 425 S. Sandusky St., Delaware, Ohio 43015. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center in Delaware.

  • So sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. We enjoyed Mike when he coached in the summer softball program and also as a fellow parent through the various sports programs at Kenton Ridge.
    Mike was an active supporter and enjoyed not only the success of Erin and Lauren but the progress of the other girls in the program as well.
    He was a good guy and his involvement was positive for all.
