Stephen R. Balcom, age 59, of Mount Vernon passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

He was born on August 21, 1955 in Mount Vernon to Raymond and Eleanor (Wertz) Balcom. Stephen was Co-Owner of Balcom Brothers Roofing and Balcom Rentals. He enjoyed long rides on his four wheeler and his canine companions Daisy and Miley.

He is survived by two sons John Balcom, Robert Balcom; his daughter Mary Balcom; granddaughter Miriah; his mother Eleanor Balcom; his brother Jeff (Kathy) Balcom; his nephew Josh Balcom; his nieces Jody (Kyle) Thompson, Lori (Scott) McKeever; his great-niece Madison Thompson and great-nephew James Thompson; and his aunts and uncle Carl (Oneta) Balcom and Betty Wertz.

Stephen was preceded in death by his wife Rita Balcom and his father Raymond Balcom.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2015 beginning at 6PM at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home with Rev. Marvin Haught officiating.
