Stanley G. “Jake” Wright, age 84, of Mount Gilead, passed away peacefully, Wednesday morning, October 14, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on August 7, 1936, in Mount Gilead, to the late Harold B. and B. Marie. (Zeger) Wright. Jake graduated from Johnsville High School with the class of 1954.
On July 4, 1981, Jake married the love of his life, Heide U. Metzger, on the family farm outside Williamsport.
For many years, Jake worked at North Electric and later PPG in Crestline as a glass inspector. During his entire life he also operated a farm. His daily routine often included tending to pigs, the cattle, or the crops.
Jake was a man of faith. He loved to hunt and watch the pig shows at the local Morrow County Fair. Jake also loved his family and often could be found sitting around a bon fire or in line to grab a plate of food with those he loved.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Heide; children: Ralph (Patty Staup) Weikel of Mount Gilead, Debbie Kappes, and Tammie Oberdier; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a brother, Junior Wright of Mount Gilead; a sister-in-law, Oreda Wright of Mount Gilead; his extended family from Germany; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and canine companion who was his best friend, Izzy.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and B. Marie; brothers: William (Barbara), Charles, and Donald Wright; sister-in-law, Loretta; and nephew, Ricky Wright.
His family will greet friends from 11 AM to 1 PM, on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel. (67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead, OH 43338) A service to celebrate his life will be held there at 1 PM with Pastors Buddy Walters and David Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Shauck Cemetery.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Morrow County Fair, Morrow County Dog Shelter, and/or Morrow County EMS.
