Stanley G. Armstrong, age 78, of Kinney Rd., Mt. Vernon, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2004 at the Country Club Retirement Center here in Mt. Vernon.
He was born on March 29, 1926 in Knox County, Ohio to the late Clifford and Mabel (Giffin) Armstrong and had been a county resident all his life. Mr. Armstrong was a farmer and was employed at the Jervis B. Web Company. He was a member of the Brandon Baptist Church and served his country during WWII in the United States Army.
He is survived by his seven sons, Rev. Charles (Cathy) Armstrong of King of Prussia, PA, Donald (Jeannie) Armstrong, Gordon Armstrong, Paul (Bonnie) Armstrong, Leonard (Shelley) Armstrong, James (Cathy) Armstrong, and Elva (Melissa) Armstrong all of Mt. Vernon, seventeen grandchildren, and two great grandsons.
Preceding him in death were his wife Pauline Schnebly Armstrong, an infant granddaughter Tammy Annette Armstrong, an infant sister Naomi Grace Armstrong and daughter-in-law Chloe Armstrong.
Friends may call on Tuesday at the Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM at the Brandon Baptist Church with Rev. Marvin Haught officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
