Sophie F. Kalcic, 94, of Marion and formerly Lowellville, Ohio died Thursday evening, February 11, 2010 at the Arbors of Delaware.

She was born on November 21, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late Hyman and Celia (Kessler) Kaplan.

On November 25, 1933 she married Anthony “Tony” Kalcic in Brooklyn, New York. They were married for 57 years before his passing on January 3, 1990. She and her husband had two children, Joanne (Jim) Traveline of Marion, Ohio and the late David A. (Eileen) Kalcic.

She also leaves two granddaughters, Melissa (Tom) Richgels of Germantown, Tennessee and Laurie (Joe) Neyer of Oxford, Ohio; five great grandchildren, Will and John Richgels and Alex, Aaron, and Zeke Neyer; and a brother Sol Kaplan of Hollandale, Florida.

A homemaker most of her life, Mrs. Kalcic was a member of St. Mary Church in Marion and previously was a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville

In addition to her husband and her son David she was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.

Catholic Mass will be held on Monday February 15, 2010 at 12:30 PM at Holy Rosary Church, 131 East Wood Street, Lowellville, Ohio 44436 with Father Charles Poore officiating. Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
