Shirlie F. Lavender
July 09, 1948 ‒ June 12, 2012
Shirlie F. Lavender, age 63 of Ashley died unexpectedly Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Riverside Hospital.
Born on July 9, 1948, she was born in Westerville to the late Massie and Leona (Hartwig) Koon. Shirlie worked in the secretarial and human resource field most recently with the former Air Experts.
While being both loving and generous, she was one to speak her mind. She was a member of the Delaware Eagles and favored annual trips to Las Vegas to try her luck at the slot machines. In addition to being an avid bingo player, she also enjoyed anything craft oriented and flower gardening. Considered an angel her self by her family, she also collected them.
She strived to keep her family together, organizing family reunions and sharing family genealogy. Family was the center of her life; she was a true grandmother, always striving to give them more than she had. She was happiest doing anything that involved them.
Those left to cherish her memory include her beloved husband of 24 years: Bruce, children: Richard (Tammy) Driggs of St. Louis, Shelly (Keith) Pukansky of Centerburg, treasured grandchildren: Adam, Alex, Avery, Aidan, Jordan, Ashley, Noah, she was “Ga Ga” to great-granddaughter Joslyn, brother Jeff Koon of Olympia WA, and devoted friend and partner in crime: Mona Wooten.
She was also preceded in death by sister Carol Sue Bell, and brothers Larry and Terry Koon.
Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Friday at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, 75 W. William St., Delaware, where services will follow Friday evening at 8:00 p.m., with Rev. Linda Meredith officiating.
