MANSFIELD: Shirley M. Wilford, 85, of Mansfield passed away Friday, April 10, 2015 in Wedgewood Estates Manor House.
The daughter of Clarence and Norma (Smith) Beck, Shirley was born October 6, 1929 in Johnsville. Growing up on a farm, Shirley was no stranger to hard work. Instilled with a good work ethic, Shirley made sure to share her knowledge and life experiences with her children and grandchildren.
Shirley was graduated from Johnsville High School. She worked for Taylor Metal, Rupp Industries and White Westinghouse.
Shirley enjoyed both flower and vegetable gardening, and was talented at woodworking and stain glass.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
She is survived by her son Charles (Barbara) Nikolaus of Wayside, West Virginia; grandchildren Chad Wilford and Kristy Wilson; great grandchildren Scott and Nik Weikle, and Cody and Andrew Carter; brother Robert (Janice) Beck of Johnsville and sister Marjorie Hudson of Mansfield; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Lavern Dean “Whitey” Wilford; son Ty Dean Wilford; siblings Lauren Beck, Frederick William Beck, Nellie Hallabrin, Bonnie Burkhart and Audrey Graf.
The family will receive friends Monday, April 20, 2015 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. Elder Betty Nickell will officiate and burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Mansfield-Richland County Humane Society may be made through the funeral home.
