Shirley L. Mason, age 82, of Ankenytown Road, Fredericktown, passed away on Friday, July 11, 2014 at the Laurels of Mount Vernon. She was born on January 10, 1932 in Richland County, Ohio to the late Fred and Lucille (Tidd) Bemiller. Shirley retired in 1994 from Dana Corporation in Fredericktown.

Shirley was a true homemaker, enjoying crocheting and sewing, providing generous gifts of her love for family and friends. She took pleasure in cooking for people and relishing in the quality time it provided for her to be with the family. In her younger years, Shirley liked to travel, whether it was a family vacation or just packing the RV and heading to Mohican for the weekend. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, James Mason, whom she married on January 9, 1954, her children, Doug (Becky) Mason of Fredericktown, Kim (Paul) Peppers of Fredericktown, Janet (Norm Heuppelsheuser) Mason of Marysville and Scott (Marie) Mason of Fredericktown, nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a half-sister, Barbara Williams of Mount Vernon.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll Bemiller and Richard Bemiller.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 17, 2014 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown. The family will hold a private graveside service in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the Laurels of Mount Vernon and Dr. Jeffrey Spencer for the exceptional care provided to their wife and mother.

Memorial contributions in Shirley’s name may be made to Hospice of Knox County.
