BUTLER: Shirley J. “Shug” Calhoon, 68, of Hagerman Road, Butler, died Thursday morning December 5, 2002 in Wooster Community Hospital following a long illness.
Shug was born July 21, 1934 in Ashland to Richard E. and Mildred E. (Hamrick) Reid. She was an area resident all of her life, and was graduated from Madison High School, Class of 1951.

Mrs. Calhoon was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, the Butler Historical Society, and an enthusiastic antique collector. She enjoyed flowers and would often grow her own vegetables for canning.
Shug was fun loving and had an everlasting sense of humor. She never walked away from the dance floor when Big Band music was being played.
Most of all, she was a remarkable leader and helper to the Butler Community as well as to her own family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all, she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
