Sherry L. (Windbigler) Fox

March 26, 1947 ‒ March 07, 2010

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD-Evident by her actions and lifestyle, it was obvious that Sherry Fox shared her gift of giving with her family and at work. One of the first PCA’s hired by Mansfield MedCentral Hospital, Sherry was a pioneer in her field. For over 20 years she worked at MedCentral nurturing and encouraging her patients, helping them heal. Now at peace, Sherry L. (Windbigler) Fox is in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sherry passed away Sunday afternoon, March 7, 2010 in Mansfield MedCentral Hospital following an extended illness. She was 62.

Sherry was born March 26, 1947 in Mansfield the daughter of Ray and Myrtle (Rivers) Windbigler and was graduated from Mansfield Senior High School in 1967.

Work as a PCA came easy to Sherry. It was more than a job it was her calling. Shopping on her own time for new clothes to give to her patients, or styling their hair, to Sherry these acts of kindness where just part of the job.

Family time was essential as well. Known as the family matriarch, Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving and any other major holidays where always stationed at Sherry’s house…her official title… the family reunion coordinator. She dearly loved and enjoyed time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandson.

Sherry was a member of Elm Street Baptist Church in Shelby. She enjoyed needlework, getting lost in a good novel and gardening as well. Just about once per week you could find Sherry in Amish Country. She found pleasure in the simplest things of life, sitting on her back porch overlooking the field, or strolling through the woods.

Loyal to a fault, Sherry will be remembered for her compassionate heart and generous nature.

Sherry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Joey and Lynn Dovenbarger of Bucyrus, daughter Amy Cathers of Ashland; grandchildren Deeana Dovenbarger, April Cathers, Taylor Deal, and Amanda and Alissa Lester; great grandson Zayden Haynes; twin brother Terry (Nancy) Windbigler of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother Jerry Windbigler of Loudonville, brother Dick (Melba) Windbigler of Mansfield; sister Nancy (Philipp) Riess of Berrien Springs, Michigan; nephews Craig, Brad, and Bryan (LaRonda) Birmelin and Rick (Kirstin) Windbigler; nieces Rebecca (Mike) Evans and Destiney Boyd, family friend Rodge Hans of Loudonville, and numerous great nieces, great nephews and extended family.
