Mr. Sheldon J. Bible, age 87, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019.  He was born September 17, 1931, in Ruddle, West Virginia to Olin Jay and Beulah Elizabeth (Smith) Bible.

Mr. Bible was a resident of Walton County, Florida, moving from Marengo, Ohio in October 2016. He was Catholic by faith. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1950. He was a veteran of the Armed Forces who served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 10 years and also in the United States Navy Seabee Reserves for 20 years.

He grew up working on a dairy farm and later worked for Keefer’s Chevrolet and Grumman Equipment bus factory in Delaware, Ohio; Red-E-Fire, Fire Service in Marion, Ohio; and was a maintenance supervisor for One Capital South in Columbus, Ohio and Frank Gates in Dublin, Ohio.  He was a product of the depression and loved to figure out ways to fix things, cheaply.  He had a small farm (about 80 acres) upon which he raised crops as well as livestock in addition to working fulltime until he was 79 years old.

Mr. Bible is survived by his daughter, Katherine “Kay” Gale of Florida; his granddaughter, Mary Cramer (husband Matthew) of Florida; twin great-grandchildren, Mia and Matthew Cramer of Florida; one brother, Dale J. Bible of California and he is also survived by numerous cousins.

Mr. Bible was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 50 years, Marilyn Jean “Mabel” (Ciesla) Bible, who passed away in 2004, and son-in-law Gary Gale who passed away in 2007. Sheldon and Mabel were married in 1954 are now together again.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM,  Thursday, March 14, 2019, in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery (389 Altamont Avenue in Mansfield) with military honors performed by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Detail and the service officiated by Chaplain Bill Leding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Church of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary at  4680 United States 42, Cardington, Ohio 43315.
