Shawn Michael Helber, age 44, of Sunbury, died unexpectedly at home on Thursday evening, June 7th, 2018.

He was born on June 14th, 1973 in Columbus to  Wallace and Bonnie (Meece) Helber. He was employed as a service technician with Master Air of Westerville.

Shawn enjoyed his work at Master Air, and working on cars at home. He loved working with his hands. He also enjoyed fishing, and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.  Known as a jokester, he loved his family, and would do anything someone would ask of him.

He is survived by his mother Bonnie Helber, children Shawna (Ronnie) Mitchell, Shane, Shalyn, Shianne, and Shandler, grandchild Nathan Mitchell, as well as brothers Craig Helber of Grand  Junction, Colorado;  Jamie Helber of Westerville; Todd Helber of Sunbury; and  sister Sheila (Todd) Styers of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace G. Helber.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 12th from 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where services will be held Wednesday, June 13th at 11 a.m. with Pastor Landon Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family to assist Shawn’s children’s education.

  • My heart aches for Shawn’s family, especially his sweet mother and his five beautiful children and grandson. I will remember Shawn’s funny sense of humor and his willingness to help anyone, but I will mostly remember him as a loving father to my nieces and nephews. He was a sweet soul with a huge heart and will be greatly missed by many. Love and prayers to the family.
