Sharon Kay Earnest, age 62, of Fredericktown, OH passed away on Thursday morning, April 30, 2009 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born on November 1, 1946 in Mount Vernon, a daughter of the late William Sherman and Jane Ann (Temple) Smith.

Kay was formerly the Activities Director at Whispering Hills Nursing Home in Mount Vernon, where she enjoyed working with the elderly. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Kay was an avid Toby Keith fan.

Kay is survived by her children, Michael Daniel (Julie) Earnest of Mount Vernon, Matthew Lee (Melanie) Earnest of Fredericktown, and Hope Renee (Jack) Young of Fredericktown; grandchildren, Lyndsey, Lisa, Macy, and Mariah Earnest, Stephanie and Steven Wagner, J.P. and Gerald Weikle, Jordan and Trace Young; a great grandson, Blake Daniel Earnest; sisters, Ann (Steve) Buck of Fredericktown and Judy (Don) Behm of Florida; brother, Tim (Debbi) Smith of Fredericktown; several nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, Baby.

In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel L. Earnest.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until time of a memorial service at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St., Fredericktown with Minister Don Linn officiating. Inurnment will be in Forest Cemetery.
