November 26, 1944 ‒ December 13, 2013
Mount Gilead, Ohio
Sharon Fowler, age 69, of Mount Gilead, passed away Friday afternoon, December 13, 2013, at Marion General Hospital.
She was born in Dublin, Ohio on November 26, 1944, the daughter of the late George and Alice “Kay” (McCoy) Metzger.
On January 1, 1961, Sharon married her best friend and love of her life, Charles R. Fowler. They shared over 52 wonderful years of marriage together.
A woman of abiding faith, Sharon had been a member of the Assembly of God in Mount Gilead. She loved teaching Sunday school classes and working with the youth of the church.
Sharon had the best job in the world being a stay at home mom. She wore many hats including that of a cook, a nurse, a cleaner, a peacemaker, and being the best mother any family could ever ask for. She adored each member of her family and would do anything she was able to for them. Family gatherings and the holidays were her favorite times of the year. She always prepared a feast for her family with plenty of leftovers to spare. She welcomed each new baby with a special crochet blanket, and celebrated birthdays and weddings with her beautiful homemade cakes.
When Sharon found time to relax she enjoyed listening to southern gospel music, playing Farmville through her Facebook account, and going out to dinner with Charles.
Sharon was a very giving and loving woman, a wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend. She will be missed by everyone whose lives she profoundly touched.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Charles R. Fowler Sr., of Mount Gilead; two sons: Charles R. Fowler Jr. of Mount Gilead, Russell L. Fowler of Cardington; a daughter, Christal A. (Michael) Fields of Bellville; six grandchildren: Bryan, Daniel and Ashley Fowler, Kayla and Rachael Morrison, and Elly Fields; and a brother, Joseph (Maude) Metzger of Marengo.
The Fowler family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, 76 S. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 2013 with Pastor Eric Schroeter officiating. Burial will follow in Bryn Zion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Sharon’s honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
