MANSFIELD: Shannon Nicole Aten, age 42, of Mansfield passed away Sunday evening, May 17, 2020.

She was born July 6, 1977 in Mt. Vernon, attended Clear Fork High School and worked locally as a medical assistant.

Shannon was a free spirit who loved motorcycles and tattoos.  She followed the Ohio State Buckeyes and Pittsburgh Steelers and was obsessed with Irish and Celtic culture.  Her dream was to visit Ireland.

Loyal and generous, Shannon loved helping others.  Whether it was lending a hand to a friend or stranger, caring in home for her grandfather at the end of life, or simply being the listening ear for her sisters, Shannon truly loved others.  She gave her whole self to her family, and completely doted and spoiled her beloved three grandbabies.

“The Irish—be they kings, or poets, or farmers, they’re a people of great worth, they keep company with the angels, and bring a bit of heaven here to earth.”

She is survived by her mother and stepfather Dana Gill and Bart Hawk of Bellville, father John Gill of Loudonville; four sons Thordon Kilgore, Kenneth and Mira) Kilgore and Alexander Kilgore all of Columbiana, AL, and Shayne Kilgore of Bellville; their father Jay Kilgore of Columbiana; three grandbabies Luna Stormi Lynn Stage, Aiden-Kye Belisarius Fate Kilgore and Mara Leigh Aire Kilgore; sisters Brooklyn Gill and Ambur Gill both of Mansfield; her grandmother Kathleen Hunter of Mt. Vernon; aunt and uncle Brenda and Rick Heinberger; uncle Frank Gill; cousins Whitney Pargeon and Bobby and Miranda Sillman; very special nieces and nephews Janie, Shayna, Trevor, Gavin and Jacob.

She was preceded in death by her grandfather Richard Hunter in 2019.

Public visitation for friends and family will be held Friday, May 22, 2020 from 4-7 pm in the Bellville Snyder Funeral Home.  Limited occupancy guidelines will be followed, we thank you in advance for your patience.
