Sevena Faye Frazier-Avant

Sevena F. Frazier-Avant, 36, of Delaware, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the OSU Ross Medical Center, Zusman Hospice, Columbus.

She was born on April 25, 1979 in San Diego, CA.  She grew up in California and was a graduate of the Pointe Loma High School in San Diego, and then went on to Maric College in San Diego, where she received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing.

While living in California, Sevana attended the Bethesda Apostolic Church.  She loved to sing and especially enjoyed  Gospel and Rhythem and Blue’s music.  She loved her children and family, and helped to care for her extended family living in California and Alabama.  That need for caring for people motivated Sevana to become a nurse, which became her passion.  In 2007, Sevana  moved to Ohio and for the past 4 years had been employed by OSU Family Medicine at CarePoint in Lewis Center.  She was so proud that she was able to become a nurse, and was so proud that she saw her daughter- Tiarra , graduate from high school and then go to Wittenburg College.

She is survived by her loving husband- Maurice M. Avant, whom she married on Oct. 7, 2000; two sons- Maurice M. Avant,II and Cameron G. Avant, both of Delaware; two daughters- Tiarra T. Avant and Arionna M. Avant, both of Delaware; her mother- Andrea L. Frazier of Delaware; four brothers- Joseph, Fred, Jerome and Alphonso; two sisters- Lateasha and Ebony;  Alphonso Frazier, Sr. and his wife- Catheryn helped to raise Sevana; Father and Mother-in-law—Glenn M. and (Brenda) Avant of Montgomery, Alabama; brother-in-law—Jonathan (Jessica) Avant of Montgomery, Alabama; two sister-in-laws—Shona (Daryl) Thomas of Birmingham, Alabama and Melinda Avant of Auburn, Alabama; her numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, all in San Diego and Alabama; God Parents- Mary and Michael Mobley; two God Sisters- Monique Mobley and Miia Mobley; and best friends- Arena Ferguson and Kanita Glover.

She was preceded in death by her father- Lawrence Fletcher.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the Celebration of Sevana’s Life at 1:00 p.m., in the Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 West William Street, Valleyside Drive, Delaware, with Glenn and Brenda Avant, officiating.

Memorial contributions if desired may be given to the donor’s favorite choice.

  • I am very sorry to read about the loss of your dear loved one. God has promised to swallow up death forever and wipe away the tears from all faces. Jesus promised at John 5: 28-29 there is going to be a resurrection. It is my hope that these scriptural thoughts will bring you and your family some comfort.

  • It is so hard to believe such a beautiful young lady like Sevena has left us so soon. God, I just ask you to comfort and watch over her family. Lord, give her husband, Maurice, all the strength he needs to go on in his life. He may need help to guide the children in the right direction, as you would want him to Lord. Sevena you will truly be missed especially that beautiful smile you would give everyone even on days you didn’t feel your best. You will always be thought of and kept in my heart.

  • I’m so sorry to hear of the loss of a beautifully, intelligent, kind hearted woman, mother , daughter and wife. I met Cece back in 2006 when I became employed with her at Kaiser. She will always be remembered and missed as she’s someone whom could never be forgotten.
