Scott L. O’Neil, age 40 of Mt. Vernon and formerly of Sunbury died unexpectedly Thursday, February 9, 2012.

He was born on June 29, 1971 to Gary L. and Sharon L. (Pierce) O’Neil of Sunbury. A graduate of Big Walnut High School in 1990, he also attended Delaware JVS completing the auto body curriculum. Scott was employed with Columbus Handyman.

Good hearted and honorable, his word was his bond. A gifted woodworker, he enjoyed making furniture and Oak was his favorite wood to craft. Always generous and forever loyal, he was respected and loved by all. He enjoyed time working in his shop, but treasured time spent with his wife and family.

In addition to his parents those also left to treasure his memory include his beloved wife of 19 years: Dawn (DeLille), children: Ashley Swint and Jeff O’Neil of Mt. Vernon, grandson Clayton, who made him smile, brother Gary O’Neil Jr. (Leigh Wilson) of Westerville, sister Sheri O’Neil (Jimmy Livingston) of Centerburg, sister-in-law Sheryl O’Neil, parents-in-law: Rebecca Bolen of Ashtabula and John DeLille of Johnstown.

He was preceded in death by brother Donnie O’Neil in 2006.

Friends may call Sunday 5-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR’s 3 at 61, Sunbury, where services will be held Monday 11:00 a.m., burial will follow in Sunbury Memorial Park.
