Scott A. White

October 11, 1971 ‒ October 27, 2018

Mount Gilead, Ohio

Scott A. White, age 47, of Mount Gilead, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018, at the Kobacker House in Columbus following a courageous two year battle with cancer.

On October 11, 1971, Scott was born in Mount Gilead, a son of Donald Joseph and Loverna Irene (Wells) White.  He graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1990.  He then furthered his education, receiving his B.S. in Computer Science from Muskingum College in 1994.  There, he was a member of the Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity.

Since August of 2011, Scott was employed as a Product Engineering Technician by IB-Tech in Bucyrus. He loved his job and the relationships he developed with his co-workers.

A man of faith, Scott was a member of the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church.  As a child, he served many years as an altar boy.

In his spare time, Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles/dirt bikes.  He was always cheering for his Ohio State Buckeyes.  He also loved to golf and was one of four people to plant all of the pine trees at Pine Lakes Golf Course in Mount Gilead in the summer of 1985.

Scott loved his children more than anything and cherished spending time with them.  One of his favorite things to do with them was vacation in Branson, MO and Gatlinburg, TN.  He loved being in the mountains.

Scott will always be remembered for his fun loving, quick witted sense of humor.  He was a wonderful story teller, but nobody is quite sure how many of them may be true.  Scott had a very strong will and fought hard for two years to beat his cancer.

Scott will be greatly missed by his three children: Haley, Lacey and Zachary White, all of Ontario; his parents: Donald and Loverna White of Mount Gilead; his sister, Donna (Eric) Kill and their children: Matthew, Joshua and Daniel, all of Cardington; his brother, Mark (Leslie) White and their children: Casey and Kyle, all of Mount Gilead; his former wife and mother of his children, Beverly White of Ontario; his step-son, Kaulen Korody of Lexington; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Lawrence and Ethel Marie White and Reuben and Dortha Wells.

Scott’s family will greet friends from 3 – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at the Sacred Hearts Catholic Church, 4680 U.S. Route 42, Cardington, with Fr. Thomas Buffer officiating.  Burial will follow at Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.

Rather than flowers, memorial contributions in Scott’s name may be made to the Kobacker House Hospice Care, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, OH 43214 to help support the wonderful care they provide to patients and families.

  • I had the privilege of working with Scott for many years, side by side, through thick and thin. He was my right hand man. Together, we mentored several Pioneer CTC seniors as they began their chosen career paths. Scott was always willing to share his work knowledge, life lessons learned, and a joke or story that you would never forget.
He was a kind hearted man who was always ready to lend you a hand. Sometime when I asked him to give me a hand, he would clap for me first, then he would put on his gloves. His children, Haley, Lacey, and Zach were his pride and joy and we shared our stories all the time, as most Dad’s do. Scott’s work ethic, sense of humor, and determination, will leave a lasting impression on all of us at IB-Tech.

My condolences go out to the entire White family during this most difficult time. Rest in peace Scott.

  • I am saddened by the news of Scott passing away, I worked with him at IBT for 6 years and he always always had a smile on his face! He loved his family so much and talked of them often. I am praying for their strength in this difficult time! May God hold you tight and give you strength. It’s hard to understand why the good die young, for he surely was great one! Fly high in those streets of gold Scott!

  • Very saddened to learn of Scott’s passing. I have many fond memories of playing golf with him and planting all those pine trees.

    With deepest sympathy,
