Sarah McConnell Daniels, age 92, of Mount Vernon passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016.  She was born January 8, 1924 in Pennsylvania to the late Rae and Daisy McConnell.

She graduated from Homer High School in 1942 and graduated from the Mount Vernon Business School.  She was an active member of the Grove Church of Christ near Gambier.  She worked at Harpster and Poulson and for over 16 years worked at the Knox County Auditor’s Office. Sarah was one of the first females in the county to run for public office.  She enjoyed sewing and gardening.  She was a 4-H advisor for many years and active in Knox County Farm Bureau.  Sarah and Dick enjoyed working together on their dairy farm for most of their marriage.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Helen (Lester) McKee; her son, Jim (Kathryn) Daniels; grandchildren, Tisha (Chuck) Melick, Tonya (Grant) Mickley, Ryan (Leigh) Daniels, Mandy (Josh) Havenar and Chet ( fiancée Emily) Daniels; great grandchildren, Cade, Kenton, Shanna, Weston, Shanda, Adam, Taryn, Brayden, Logan, and Trevor; sister-in-laws Ruth McConnell, Esther Daniels, Barbara Dunn and Betty Daniels; and many nieces and nephews.

Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Richard Daniels; brother, Bill McConnell; and sisters, Elizabeth Wolfe and Mary Miller.

In following with Sarah’s wish, there will be a graveside service in Union Grove Cemetery near Gambier on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. with Minister David K. Dahlstein officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Grove Church of Christ, 7740 Grove Church Rd., Gambier, OH 43022 or to Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Rd., Mount Vernon, OH  43050.
