Sara Shotts Darling

Sara D. Shotts Darling, age 79, of Fredericktown, died Saturday May 10, 2003 at the Knox Community Hospital in Mount Vernon. She was born November 30, 1923 in Mount Vernon to George W. and Sarah (Vilfer) Shotts Sr. and had spent her lifetime in the Knox county area. She was a member of the Fredericktown United Methodist Church, the Ann Hill Chapter; Order of Eastern Star in Fredericktown and was a 50-year member of the Pythian Sisters in Fredericktown. Mrs Darling had been employed by the Shalimar Corp., Ritcheys Market and Lewis and Coffing I.G.A. in Fredericktown and had been an avid bowler with the “Monday Night League”.
Surviving are her husband Glenn Darling whom she married December 24, 1942; her son Glenn W. “Bill” (Mary Ann) Darling of Mansfield, 2 grandchildren Elizabeth (Todd) Russell and Greg (Joy) Darling both of Mansfield, 2 great-grandchildren Adriana Russell and Griffin Darling and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by 2 brothers John Shotts Sr. and George Shotts Jr. and 3 sisters Margaret Ginn, Hariette Houck and Sophia Woods.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday at the Snyder Funeral Home in Fredericktown with Rev. Larry Draper officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 PM until 7 PM. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens.
