Sara “Sally” DeLaurentis

Sara “Sally” DeLaurentis, age 81, a current resident of the Country Club Retirement Center, formerly of Gambier Street in Mount Vernon, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005 at the Knox Community Hospital. She was born April 23, 1923 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Frank and Maria (DiMarzio) Luciani and had been a resident of the Mount Vernon area for 36 years. Sally was retired from the Mount Vernon City Schools where she had worked as a Library Aide. She was a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church.

She is survived by four sons; Peter C. (Karin) DeLaurentis of Columbus, Ohio, John (Brenda) DeLaurentis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, James (Meg) DeLaurentis of Columbus, Ohio and Michael (Maggie) DeLaurentis of Seattle, Washington, five daughters; Barbara Wade of Knoxville, Tennessee, Eileen (Dave) Coulter of Plymouth, Ohio, Christine DeLaurentis of Columbus, Ohio, Kathryn DeLaurentis of New Jersey, and Elizabeth DeLaurentis of Winter Park, Florida, nine grandchildren, two brothers; Tony Luciani of Greenville, Pennsylvania and Joseph Luciani of San Diego, California, and two sisters; Toni Thomas of Jacksonville, Florida, and Ann Maida of Portsmouth, Rhode Island and two sisters-in-law; Virginia DeLaurentis and Rose Stumpff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, C. Charles DeLaurentis and a sister Mary Venturella.

Friends may call on Friday, March 25, 2005 from 5 to 7 P.M. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. Father Ted Thomas will conduct a funeral service Saturday at 10 A.M. at the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church or to the Elementary Libraries of the Mount Vernon City Schools.
