Sandra Lorey Tackett

January 01, 1947 ‒ June 19, 2013

Mansfield, Ohio

MANSFIELD: Sandra Loray Tackett went home to be with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield following a long illness. She was 66.

She was born January 1, 1947 in Middletown and was the daughter of Phil and Dorothy (Lovely) Stentz. Growing up, Loray was a protective “Big Sissy” and chased after three little sisters and a brother. She was graduated from Mansfield Senior High and later attended nursing school to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.

As a young adult, Loray was an Army Wife and rose to the challenge of moving across the country, often unexpectedly, to follow her husband’s career.

She loved her only son, Shawn, more than life. And although she would occasionally embarrass him with a well-intentioned “Love you, Pumpkin’ Doodle!!” in front of his boss or friends, she always had his best interest at heart.

Her co-workers knew her as “Sandy” and she thoroughly enjoyed her career at MedCentral as an LPN and a unit clerk. She retired after more than 20 years of service.

In her spare time Loray enjoyed buying and selling things on, hunting through garage sales, and dreaming up home improvement projects (often inspired by shows on HGTV). She was crafty and an excellent cook famous for her Broccoli Rice Casserole and Toll House Cookie Bars. Somehow she still found time to golf and sell Avon products!

She attended Berean Baptist Church in Mansfield.

She is survived by her son Shawn & Michele Tackett of Mansfield; her father Phil Stentz of Mansfield; sisters Phyllis & Chris Aspridis of Melbourne, Australia, Susan & Ralph Leathers of Mansfield, and Artela & Ken Stocksdale of Mansfield; a brother Steve & Debbie Stentz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

The family will hold a private interment ceremony in Ashland Cemetery.
