Sandra L. (Mauk) Yager

March 26, 1947 ‒ July 23, 2018

Marion, Ohio

Sandra L. (Mauk) Yager, age 71, of Marion, died Monday, July 23, 2018, at home following an extended illness.

On March 26, 1947, Sandra was born in Marion, Ohio, the oldest of four children of the late Dr. Harry and Norma (Birchem) Mauk.  She graduated from Pleasant High School in the class of 1965.

Very close with her family, Sandra joined their Mauk Chiropractic family business as a massage therapist, working off and on for many years with her parents and brothers.

Quite the pair, Sandra married the love of her life, Jerry Yager, on June 23, 1973.  Together they united their families, sharing forty five years of marriage.  She also helped Jerry at their Davids Street Party Store as a bookkeeper.

Sandra was raised in the Calvary United Methodist Church and was a member there with her family for many years.

Inheriting a love of animals from her mother, Sandra especially loved the companionship of her many dogs she has had throughout her life.  She also loved collecting recipes and wanted to ensure their family recipes were passed down to the next generations.

Very smart and quick witted, Sandra would often catch you off guard with her random comments and jokes.  She also was very opinionated and confident in her beliefs, never shying away from telling you how she felt.

Sandra’s true pride and joy was her family, and her heart overflowed with love for all of them.  She cherished every moment spent with her sons, and especially loved watching them play sports.  She also was a very loving grandmother.

She will be missed by her husband, Jerry Yager of Marion; four sons: Joseph Yager of Marion, James (Iantha) Yager of Virginia Beach, VA, Jeremy (Jennie) Yager of Hilliard, and Justin (Tara) Yager of Carroll; seven grandchildren: Alysia Yager, Chelsea Yager, Hudson Yager, Jaxson and Jayson Yager, and Taylor and Logan Wishon; two great-grandchildren: Easton and Jace Yager; two brothers: Dr. David (Kim) Mauk, and Tim (Vickie) Mauk, both of Marion; a sister-in-law, Colleen Mauk, of Marion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her parents, Sandra was preceded in death by an infant son, Bradley Burns; and a brother, Dr. Gary Mauk.

Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at the Crosswood United Methodist Church (address below).  Services honoring her life will also be observed there at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with Pastor Therese Lehman officiating.  Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Crosswood United Methodist Church, 1551 Richland Rd, Marion, OH 43302, or to the Marion Area Humane Society, 2264 Richland Rd, Marion, OH 43302.
