Sandra K. “Sandy” Mynhier

April 22, 1946 ‒ August 25, 2013

Cardington, Ohio

Sandra K. “Sandy” Mynhier, age 67, of Cardington, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 25, 2013, at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

On April 22, 1946, Sandy was born in Galion, Ohio, the daughter of Daisy R. (Foust) Casto of Marion and the late Edward I. Casto. She graduated from Cardington-Lincoln High School in the Class of 1964.

While working at United Telephone in Mount Gilead, Sandy met a young man named Ronald L. Mynhier. He would walk by the window of the office she was working, wink, and smile at her. He at first did this to get a rise out of her, but they began talking and formed a relationship. On November 11, 1968, they ran off to Clintwood, Virginia, and were married. They have shared the past 44 years together, raising three daughters along the way.

Throughout the years, Sandy held many occupations. She was first and foremost a loving homemaker. She was employed for many years at United Telephone in Mount Gilead as an operator then later ran concession trailers at fairs and auction houses.

A woman of great faith, Sandy attended the Gilead Friends Church with her daughter Shelley and her family.

A proud Buckeye, Sandy would never miss an Ohio State football or basketball game on television. She had attended a few football games in the Horseshoe over the years.

Above all, Sandy’s family meant the world to her. Together they enjoyed picnics, barbecues, family reunions, and playing cards. She was extremely active with her grandchildren and attended all of their events. Christmas was a very special holiday she shared with everyone. She loved the meaning of Christmas, the lights, and quality family time. Sandy loved to travel and in the past few years took several girls trips to Pigeon Forge with her daughters and granddaughters. She also always looked forward to the tractor pulls at the Morrow County Fairgrounds.

Sandy was an easy going woman who loved to laugh. She never got worked up about anything, having the attitude that everything will take care of itself.

Sandy will be dearly missed by her husband, Ron, of Cardington; her mother, Daisy Casto of Marion; three daughters: Lorie (Sunny Soules) Mynhier of Mount Gilead, Michelle “Shelly” (Joe) Foor of Cardington, Rhonda (Ron Harden) Mynhier of Mount Gilead; four grandchildren: Leitha Johnson, Marlin Johnson Jr., Jacob Foor, Kaylyn Foor; a great grandson, Brayden Moran; her brother, Larry (Cec) Casto of Interlachen, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Sandy’s family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at the Snyder Funeral Home, Craven Chapel, 67 N. Main St., Mount Gilead. Services celebrating her life will be held there on Thursday, August 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Mosher officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Gilead Friends Church, Sonshine Express, and may be made in care of the funeral home.
