Sandra Jean (Swick) Hensel

October 12, 1939 ‒ July 09, 2021

Morral, Ohio

Sandra Jean (Swick) Hensel, age 81 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 9, 2021 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky with family by her side.

Sandy was born in Marion, Ohio on October 12, 1939, to the late Kerr E. Swick and Edna M. (Traxler) Swick. Sandy attended Morral High School where she graduated in 1957. Sandy grew up on a farm and always enjoyed country life. Shortly after high school, she married the love of her life, Clair Olen Hensel, on November 29, 1957. They started their life together in Marion but always had plans to move back to the country. In 1972, her husband, Clair, built a house in the Ridgedale School District so their boys could enjoy the country life like she did.

During Sandy’s working years, she was employed at GTE and Commercial Savings Bank (formerly The Harpster Bank). She retired from CSB after 25 years of service. Sandy was always a woman of faith and always put others needs before her own.

Sandy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed for her loving and kind spirit, witty sense of humor, her fantastic home cooked meals, and the fact that she was never seen without a Pepsi in her hand. She was willing to cook for her family any time they came to visit. Sandy was always up for an adventure. In her spare time, she loved playing BINGO, slot machines, and travelling. She enjoyed visiting Myrtle Beach, New York city and Las Vegas with her family and friends. By far, Sandy’s biggest love was for her family and all of the blessings they provided her during her life.

Sandy will be missed by her husband, Clair of Morral; sons, Bryan (Lori) Hensel of Morral, Terry (Cathleen) Hensel of Morral, and Steve Hensel of Marion; grandchildren, Sutton (Tyler) Haile, Trent (Shelby) Hensel, Alexis ‘Lexi’ (Caden Lawrence) Hensel, Todd (Jacque) Hensel, Taryn Hensel, Brandon Hensel, and Camryn Hensel; great-grandchildren, Liam, Kohen, Xavier, Marley, Gracelyn, Dorothy, Tucker, Trace, Troy, Roran, Tripp, and one baby girl on the way.

Visitation will be held at Trinity Evangelical UMC, 108 Malabar Dr., from 4:00 until 5:30 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021.  A memorial service will be held at 5:30 pm.

Donations may be made in Sandy’s honor to Heartland Hospice, 685 Delaware Ave #300, Marion, OH 43302.
