MANSFIELD: Sandra J. Miller, 82, of Mansfield, passed away Wednesday, January 31 2018 at her home, and was with her husband, Larry. Sandra was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 8, 1935. She was raised in Wellston, Ohio and attended school until her junior year. Her father, Ned Betts, died tragically when she was 9 years old. Sandra and her mother, Catherine Betts (Davis), moved to Jackson, Ohio where she graduated from high school. Sandra went on to attend Ohio University, and worked toward obtaining a Master’s Degree from The Ohio State University. After she obtained her degree in teaching, Sandra returned to Jackson and taught in the 3rd and 4th grades in Kennison elementary school.

Sandra moved to Columbus, Ohio and taught school in the Calumet elementary school in Clintonville. While living in Columbus, she met her husband to be, Larry V. Miller. Sandra and Larry married in 1963 and moved to Mansfield, Ohio. That same year, Larry purchased the Metronome Music Store in Mansfield, and Sandra taught at Wooster Heights elementary school in Madison until she gave birth to her son Steven. Her daughter, Cara, was born 3 years later. Larry and Sandra celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2013 with family and friends.

Sandra loved teaching and was a wonderful wife and caring mother. She spent countless hours taking Steve and Cara to music lessons, sports and after school activities and encouraging them to be their best. She encouraged and supported Larry, the love of her life, through both the thrills and challenges of owning a family business. Sandra was also a member of the Mansfield “Rotary Anns” and the First United Methodist Church.

Sandra is preceded in death by her father and mother, and her grandson, Samuel Miller. She is survived by her husband Larry, her son Steven and daughter-in-law, Angela and their children John “Jack” (17), Evan (11) and Andrew (6) of Jupiter, Florida, and her daughter Cara, and son-in-law, Douglas O’Connor and their daughter Cate (7) of Monrovia, California.
