Sandra J. “Sandie” Baker, 67, of 625 Maple Heights Dr., Galion, died Monday, June 16, 2008 at MedCentral/Mansfield Hospital, after an extended illness.

Born Apr. 22, 1941 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Elijah Roy Pickering and Jessie Nicholls Pickering. She married Ron Baker on Jan. 13, 1962, who survives.

Sandie graduated from Galion High School in 1959, was a 55 year member of Christ United Methodist Church and enjoyed her flower gardens. She was an avid Galion Tigers and Ohio State University sports fan and followed her children and grandchildren in sports. As a loving wife, mother and grandmother, she thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her family.

Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Christine Baker of Galion; one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Dennis Sterling of Galion and four grandchildren, Chris Baker, Bill Marino, Brieann Baker and Alex Baker and two sisters, Vee TyRee of Galion and Carol Arter of Crestline.

She was preceded in death by one stillborn daughter, Ronelle; two sisters, Connie Saum and Marilyn Pickering and one brother, John Pickering.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Trigg officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
