Samuel Robert “Bob” Berkey, age 86, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 22, 2019.  He was born in Clearfield, Pennslvania on November 20, 1932 to the late George and Sarah (Liddick) Berkey.

Bob resided primarily in the Sandusky/Norwalk area and recently of Mount Vernon, Ohio.  He worked for Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky, Ohio for 30 years.  Bob was an avid woodworker.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, boating, camping, fishing as well as playing and building guitars.  He served his country proudly in the United States Army.

He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda (Smith) Berkey; a son Robert Berkey; daughters, Kimberlie (Michael) Barrows and Sheree Lippus; grandchildren, Nichole (Jake) Westfall, Nolan (Cristy) Berkey, Logan Berkey, Karissa Barrows, Caitlin (Lance) Walters, Ethan Barrows, Morgan Lippus, Holly Lippus, Spencer (Holly) Lippus; great-grandchildren, Seth, Jamison, Jackson, Pia, Katie and expecting Gage; sisters, Ruth Knupke, Gladys Merrick and Mariella Cheek; and a special canine companion, Reba.

Along with his parents, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, and four sisters.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00 am with an hour prior of visitation starting a 10:00 am at the Norwalk First United Methodist Church 60 W. Main Street Norwalk, Ohio 44857.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: The COPD Foundation (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, Florida 33134.
