Samantha Dawnn Nicole Pickens, age 19, of Marion died Friday April 25, 2008, at the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus after a courageous lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis. While her family will miss her they are thankful her suffering is over and now know she is dancing with the angels.
She was born on March 15, 1989, in Marion, Ohio.
Like most teenagers, Samantha could spend hours talking on the phone or sitting in front of the computer surfing the internet.
She was very outgoing and not afraid to speak her mind. Her energetic personality and beautiful smile could light up any room.
She will be missed by her mother and step-dad Ricia and Brian Hay of Marysville; her father and step-mother George and Sherry Smith of Marion; sisters Melisa and Ashley Smith, Shyanne and Mariah Augenstein, and Bobbie Mahaffey all of Marion, Katelynn and Kiersten Hay of Marysville; brother George Smith of Marion; grandparents Judy Miller and Delmer and Cheryl Smith of Marion; great grandmother Georgia Farrow of Marion; and lots of uncles, aunts cousins, and friends who all loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Wayne Miller, and grandmother, Lavina Smith.
Her family will greet friends on Thursday May 1, 2008 from 4 – 6 p.m. at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center Street, Marion. Graveside services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Agosta Cemetery in New Bloomington with Edward Hay officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family, c/o the funeral home to assist with funeral expenses.
