Sam “Buck” Corwin

Samuel D. “Buck” Corwin, age 83 of Delaware passed away at home Sunday morning, May 15, 2011 surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 2, 1927 in Delaware to the late Joel and Victoria (Fletcher) Corwin. A lifelong resident of Delaware County, he was a US Navy Veteran of WW II. Stationed in the Philippines, he served with the Seabee’s and the naval construction battalion building landing strips. He worked as a truck driver for 46 years. Retiring in 1990 throughout his career, Buck worked with Suburban Motor Freight, Andy Main, David Davies Meat Packing, and Columbus Coated Fabrics.
Buck enjoyed all bluegrass music and help found the Central Ohio Bluegrass Association, playing the mandolin and banjo, camping and talking on the CB radiowith drivers and friends always willing to give them directions to where they were going. Member of the VFW Post #8736 and the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by sons: Rick (Susan) Corwin of Mount Vernon, Mike (Jackie) Corwin of Sunbury; daughters: Vicky (Bob) Walls of Piney Creek, NC, Brenda Smith of Sunbury, Tracy Maples of Point Pleasant WV.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother: James Corwin of Lynchburg, VA.
Preceded in death by his dear companion of 20 years: Carole Ann Baker in 2006; brother: Chuck; sisters: Pearlene Donovan, Edith “Fene” Corwin; son-in-law: George Smith.
Calling hours will not be observed and private services for the family will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, Delaware.
