Sally J. Johnson, age 72, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2020.  She was born on December 27, 1947 in Mount Vernon, Ohio the daughter of David and Dorothy (Brown) Troyer.  She retired in 2000 from the business department at Knox Community Hospital.

Sally was an active member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and served as a volunteer for Station Break and Hospice of Knox County.  She enjoyed bowling, baking and every once in awhile a trip to the casino, but it was the love for her children and grandchildren that meant the most to her.

She is survived by her daughters; Jo Sharon Johnson of Mount Vernon and Lori (Victor) Claudio of Gulf Breeze, Florida; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a step son; two step daughters; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; two brothers, Steve Troyer of Utica and Jeff Troyer of Newark; two sisters, Charlotte (Vince) Becker of Newark and Kimberly (Gregg) Beaver of New Franklin, Ohio.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Johnson; a grandson; Mark Turner Jr.; two stepsons and a two brothers, Gregory Troyer, and Jim Troyer.

The family will observe a private Celebration of Life.  The Dowds-Snyder Funeral Home of Mount Vernon is honored to serve the family of Sally J. Johnson.

    So sorry to hear of your mother passing. I became friends with Sally when she worked with my sister Nancy Stuckert at the hospital. I will keep the Johnson family in my thoughts and prayers.

  • What a blessing it was all those years ago when Sissy and I came to Ohio that first time! I sill remember seeing Aunt Dorothy, Sally, and Kim surprising us at the airport! It was so wonderful. How I cherish the time we’ve had together since then.
