Ruth Rose Wirick
June 12, 1924 ‒ July 31, 2012
No words can adequately express the beauty, the power or the majesty that is Ruth Wirick’s love. She poured herself into the care of her family.
Ruth passed away Tuesday morning July 31, 2012 in her Wedgewood Estates home. She was 88.
Born Ruth Rose Raitch on June 12, 1924 in Mansfield, she was the eleventh of 14 children born to Louis and Julia Raitch.
Ruth was graduated from Lexington High School in 1942, and on September 25, 1948 she married Dale Lee Wirick. Dale preceded her in death on November 9, 2002.
A homemaker, Ruth was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Susan B. & Stan Harer and Rosemary & Steven Wreede all of Mansfield; grandchildren Megan & Chad Hanke and Matthew Wreede all of Columbus; a great grandson Lincoln Dale Hanke, another Hanke great grandchild on the way; a brother Paul Raitch in Minnesota; a sister-in-law Helen Snyder of Mount Vernon; a brother-in-law John Wirick of Naples, FL; numerous nieces and nephews; and her extended loving family of caregivers at Wedgewood Estates.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters.
A worship service, giving glory to God for the life of Ruth Wirick will be held Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 525 West Cook Road (at Lexington Avenue), Mansfield. The Rev. Dr. Pentti Maki will officiate. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Her family will receive friends immediately following the worship service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, Ruth’s family suggests a tribute to her through some caring gesture – a random act of kindness – love shared with another. Monetary contributions in her memory should be directed to Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
