Ruth Rogers, 86, of Delaware, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly Friday, September 15, 2017 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Ruth was born Nov. 25, 1930 in Beatrice, Nebraska, to the late Rev. Laban and Louise (Holsapple) Houck.
She graduated from Xenia Central High School in 1949, where she met her husband Bill, whom she married June 18, 1951. After high school, Ruth worked as a legal secretary and later as a medical assistant.
She was a member of Memorial United Presbyterian Church in Xenia for many years before moving to Delaware, Ohio, where she attended Delaware Grace Brethren. Ruth loved spending winters in Venice, Florida where she attended the Venice Church of the Nazarene. Ruth loved to sing and sang in church choirs all her life. She had a passion for traveling and loved visiting Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and Europe. Ruth was involved in Children’s Services, 4-H, numerous civic organizations, the Crisis Pregnancy Center, and the Red Hat Society.
Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Diane (Walter) Rice, Denise (Kurt) Werner, Daune Rogers, and her son, David Rogers; grandchildren Michelle (Brandon) Evans, Brian Hull, Brad Hull, and Megan Rice; great grandchildren Rossalyn Evans and Bryson Evans.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, her parents, and a brother, Herbert Leroy Houck.
Ruth loved her family. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Those close to her will remember her as sweet, kind, and compassionate. Ruth will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. September 18 at Snyder Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware Ohio, followed by the funeral service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Dave Pacheco officiating.
A private burial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 19 at Woodland Cemetery in Xenia, Ohio.
