Ruth Paxton, age 78 of Delaware, passed away Saturday evening May 28, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her family
She was born on April 18, 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio to the late Jacob and Ada (Jones) Fritz. She was a home maker and a minister’s wife and along with her husband served many churches in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Ruth was a prolific writer with many articles published in the Columbus Dispatch. She loved to cook, sew, read and garden. Ruth was always behind the scene helping her husband at his church by teaching Sunday School and anything else that needed done. Ruth formed a clothing drive and back to school supplies effort at the Minerva Park United Methodist Church that was a huge help to the community. As a result of the clothing drive Ruth was awarded the 1986 Columbus Dispatch Humanitarian Award. She was a volunteer and had her own radio program at WCVO. Ruth was most proud of her three children and her two grandchildren and was happiest when they were around her.
She is survived by her daughter: Jennifer (Randy) Cox-Hibbard of Cincinnati; sons: Ed (Toni) Paxton of Delaware, Ted (Jean) Paxton of Sunbury; grandchildren: Andrea Cox of Vancouver, British Columbia, Jessica (Frank) Adams of Cincinnati; brother: John (Ann) Fritz of Philadelphia, PA.
Preceded in death by her husband: Rev. Marvin Paxton Jr.; brother: David Fritz; sister: Joann Henderson.
Friends may call Wednesday from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 101 Valleyside Drive, Delaware where services will immediately follow at 1 p.m. with Revs. Christopher Johns and Dave Woodyard officiating. Interment will follow in the Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
