Ruth P. Metcalf, 89, of Fredericktown died Monday morning, April 3, 2017 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Loudonville. She was born May 29, 1927 in Shelby to the late Dewey and Florence (Brubaker) Shock.

Ruth was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her children. She also enjoyed crocheting, taking walks and most of all she loved vacationing with her husband in Florida.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Sharon Kay Storie of Butler, Pamela Sue Metcalf of Mount Vernon and Teresa Joan (Charlie) Ferguson of Perrysville; grandchildren, Eric Storie, Shawn (Christie) Storie, Jamie Pahl and Chris Pahl; step great grandchildren, Aubrey Smith, Warren Smith, Nathan Smith, Colton Madden and Mariah Madden; sister, Sylvia Antill of Fredericktown; brother, Glenn (Glorene) Shock of Butler; sister-in-law, Pat Shock of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Metcalf; son, Charles Eugene Metcalf; grandson, Cory Pahl; brothers, Lee, Robert, Richard “Gene” and Ernest “Ernie” Shock; and son-in-law, Jack Storie.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of a funeral service at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at the Snyder Funeral Home, 33 East College St., Fredericktown with Pastor Richard Prater officiating. Burial will follow in Bunker Hill Cemetery near Butler.
