Ruth J. “Ruthie” Young

MANSFIELD: Ruth Joan “Ruthie” Young, 82, of Hanley Road, Mansfield, died Saturday June 14, 2008 in MedCentral Mansfield Hospital following a short illness.
She was born November 26, 1925 in Washington Township to John H. and Nellie (Kisling) Fuhrer, and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1944.
A lifelong area resident, Ruthie was the president of Lexington Concrete, actively serving as the owner and operator of the company from 1959 until the time of her retirement.
She was a member of Berean Baptist Church.
Ruthie was generous and kind, and quick to pick up a card game of poker or euchre.
Always quick with her wit and up for a good line, Ruthie will be remembered for her spunk and tenacity.
She is survived by a sister Dorothy Durkin of Mansfield, sister and brother-in-law Marymae and Harry Bocka of Mansfield, and numerous nieces and nephews including Gerrie Anderson of Mansfield who was her constant support through the years.
Ruthie was preceded in death by her husband John G. Young on December 18, 1973. Also deceased are her brother John W. Fuhrer, and sisters Martha A. Cordrey, Catherene Morrison, Mabel Banks, and Gladys Texter.
The family will receive friends today, Monday, June 16, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Dean Risser will officiate. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Memorial Park.
