Ruth H. Divelbiss

Ruth Hilda Berger Divelbiss, age 96, died early Tuesday morning July 26, 2011 at the Ohio Eastern Star Home in Mount Vernon. She was born on Oct. 25, 1914 in Marysville, Ohio to the late John Calvin and Lucy Caroline (Rausch) Berger.
Ruth was a 60-year member of the Fredericktown First Baptist Church; a 71-year member of Ann Hill Chapter #81, Order of the Eastern Star; a member of West Side Club and Readers’ Review Book Club. She was an avid reader and a wonderful cook. Ruth grew up in a large, close family, and enjoyed many years of “Tussy” family reunions. Gatherings with her own family have always meant the most to her.
Ruth married George E. Divelbiss Jan. 24, 1937 and was a resident of Fredericktown for 74 years. Together they operated Divelbiss Grocery until 1960, and later Divelbiss Greenhouse.
She is survived by a daughter, Christi (P.A.) Dunfee of Lakeside; a daughter-in-law, Judy Divelbiss of Fredericktown; five grandchildren: J. Tracy (Sheri) Divelbiss and Wendy (David) Baker both of Fredericktown, Jenny (Jason) Parker of Mount Vernon; Jake (Emily) Dunfee of Marblehead, and Corie (Travis) Summers of Delaware; eight great-grandchildren: Alex and Cole Parker of Mount Vernon, Elizabeth and Jack Summers of Delaware, Grant and Molly Dunfee of Marblehead, Austin and Anna Divelbiss of Somerset, MA; and two step great-granddaughters, Hayley and Emily Derikito of Fredericktown; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; and a son, Joe M. Divelbiss; and eight brothers and sisters: Ralph, Walter, Howard, and Robert Berger, Elizabeth Miller, Virginia Jagger, Mary Pearce and Annette Feiel.
A memorial service will be held at the Fredericktown First Baptist Church Thursday, at 11 a.m., Pastor Mary Miller officiating. A private burial will follow in Forest Cemetery.
