Ruth E. Finical-Sipes, 87, of Galion, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at Village Care Center in Galion, after a one year illness.
Born Feb. 7, 1922 in Galion, she was the daughter of the late Frank Garverick and Oma Scott Garverick. She first married Paul Finical in 1938. Paul preceded her in death in 1972. She then married Clarence “Red” Sipes in 1983 and he preceded her in death in 1990.
Ruth was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion and enjoyed needle point, cross stitch and watching television, especially Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader. Ruth previously worked at the former North Electric and later as a cook at Rosewood Manor Nursing Center.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Joyce Bailey of Galion, Jackie and Gerald Bream of Newville, Penn., Jean Lehner of Galion and Joan and Frank Ventrone of Bucyrus; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Janet Finical of Tabor City, N. C.; one step-son: Ted Sipes of Bowling Green; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, one granddaughter, one step son and one step daughter.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Richardson-Davis Funeral Home where services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, with Pastor Don Trigg officiating. Burial will be in Crawford County Memory Gardens.
